Veggie Hats for Kids

Eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables is an important part of a healthy lifestyle.

FruitsVeggiesHatsWe are knitting in earnest on our series of fresh fruit and veggie hats for the UVa Children’s Hospital.

In addition to pumpkins, we’re working on tomatoes, strawberries, plums, and eggplants—and we may even be able to develop a corn on the cob hat.  Stay tuned for more on that, and other ideas as we brainstorm on this.

We hope all kids will love their veggies!

We are learning how to make dolls! Thanks, Denise at Loom a Hat.

Now that the weather is turning warmer and our stockpile of hats is growing larger, we have been looking for some summertime projects.

Loom a Hat to the rescue again!

We were inspired by Denise’s recent post (with full instructions!) on loom-knitting comfort dolls, and decided to try to make some of our own.  What fun – and perfect for the kids at the UVa Children’s Hospital!

Thanks, Denise.  You have been our inspiration from the start!

So excited to see Knitting Together donated hats on NBC 29!

We are pleased to be able to support Ramona’s Room in this wonderful positive-image boutique!

We were happy to see Knitting Together donated  hats in the NBC 29 story about the Flourish Boutique in the Emily Couric Cancer Center at the University of Virginia Health System:

Flourish is one of the only shops in central Virginia where women who’ve undergone chemotherapy can remember what it feels like to have hair and breasts again. Patients can also find positive messages on mugs, T-shirts, jewelry, and more. One room also offers free scarves and hats knit by people in the community.
